I've updated and finished the core functionality for a pure Python reader for SWORD Bible modules (hosted on github). I had previously posted an initial proof-of-concept, and now figured out how to map references to keys.
Still to do: OSIS rendering, abbreviation processing, and the sort of convenience stuff that a frontend would want (Next/Previous, etc.).

Hi, this is great. I've been looking around for a python sword library for a while now. If you want any help with this drop me an email at josh AT joshuascotton DOT com
Absolutely brilliant. I've just finished writing a SWORD based web-app in PHP for my final computer science project at university, so I'm already familiar with some SWORD internals.
I managed to get python up and running on my jailbroken iPod touch today, and I need some good bible software - think I'll have to hack one together myself in python for a hobby project.
No need - see http://www.crosswire.org/pocketsword
Or just search "pocketsword" on the app store.
Dear Ken
I wanted to thank you for writing this Python wrapper!
I am using it to provide a simple bible application (http://store.ovi.com/content/208548) for the Linux-based mobile phone N9) from Nokia.
